The Concise Oxford Dictionary defines Seascape as a picture or view to the sea. However for the purposes of the OREDP the concept and the definition includes views from land to sea, views from sea to land, views along coastline and the effect on landscape of the conjunction of sea and land. The seascape assessment is to influence policy formulation in terms of analysing the effect of wind turbines on the seascape character around Ireland. The effect is described as moderate or substantial. Substantial reflects more sensitive seascape character and a stronger mitigating effect of the turbine location on the environment.
